John Tavernetti
Chief Compliance Officer
John Tavernetti joined Osterweis Capital Management as Chief Compliance Officer in 2005. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Senior Compliance Officer at RCM Capital Management, LLC, a member of Allianz Global Investors, for a period of five years. From 1996 to 1999 he worked for Montgomery Asset Management, LLC, in San Francisco, first as a mutual fund Marketing Specialist and then as a Compliance Officer.
As the Chief Compliance Officer, Mr. Tavernetti supervises all regulatory and legal compliance issues with respect to the firm and its employees. He is a principal of the firm.
Mr. Tavernetti graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara (B.A. in Political Science).
Bill Ginchereau
Vice President & Director of Information Technology
Prior to joining Osterweis in 1998, Bill Ginchereau was the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology at the Oppenheimer Funds. Before that, Mr. Ginchereau served as the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology at the Rochester Funds, where he provided technology solutions through the firm’s rapid growth until it joined the portfolio of the Oppenheimer Funds in 1995.
He is a principal of the firm and oversees the Information Technology group.
Mr. Ginchereau attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he studied physics and computer science.
Kim Tagle, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2022, Kim Tagle was the Director of Finance & Corporate Development at SKBA Capital Management for seven years. Previously, Ms. Tagle was Regional Managing Partner at national professional service firms Tatum for three years and Resources Global Professionals (RGP) for fourteen years. Other past roles include Finance Manager at The Clorox Company and as a Senior Auditor at Deloitte.
She is a principal of the firm and oversees the firm’s corporate accounting department.
Ms. Tagle graduated from the University of Southern California (B.S. in Accounting) and is a licensed CPA.
Megan Stermer
Vice President & Director of Human Resources & Administration
Prior to joining Osterweis in 2005, Megan Stermer worked as a Human Resources Specialist at A.T. Kearney (a management consulting firm) in both their New York and San Francisco offices from 1996 to 2005.
She is a principal of the firm and oversees Human Resources, Facilities and Administration.
Ms. Stermer graduated from San Francisco State University (B.A. in Theatre Arts). She attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, working on a degree in Forensic Psychology before deciding to return to San Francisco in late 1998. Ms. Stermer holds the PHR-CA® certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute, the SHRM-CP, and the Certified Plan Sponsor Professional™ (CPSP) credential from the Plan Sponsor Council of America.
Dorothy Militar
Vice President & Director of Operations
Prior to joining Osterweis in 2014, Dorothy Militar was an Executive Director at J.P. Morgan. Before that, she held several positions over a 24-year period at AXA Rosenberg, LLC, most recently Director of Global Operations.
She is a principal of the firm and oversees its operations. Additionally, she is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the International House at U.C. Berkeley.
Ms. Militar graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (B.A. in French Literature).
Mary Chang, CFA
Vice President & Director of Performance and Analytics
Prior to joining Osterweis in 2010, Mary Chang was an associate client service director for Cardinal Capital Management, LLC, a Connecticut-based investment firm. Prior to that, she was a consultant for PwC Management Consulting Services in New York.
She is a principal of the firm and oversees the Performance and Analytics team.
Ms. Chang graduated from Cornell University (B.S. in Applied Economics) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Masters of Engineering). Ms. Chang holds the CFA and CIPM designations and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.
Leo Balambao Jr.
Vice President & Manager of Portfolio Accounting
Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 1999, Leo Balambao was a fund accountant at Coast Asset Management, a fixed income hedge fund manager. Before that, he worked at Cantor Fitzgerald as an institutional stock brokerage clerk.
He is a principal of the firm and is responsible for the firm’s portfolio accounting system.
Mr. Balambao graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A. in Sociology).
Erik Welke
Vice President & Manager of Trade Support and Portfolio Analyst
Prior to joining Osterweis Capital Management in 2007, Erik Welke served as an Investment Operations Analyst at MyVest Corporation. Before that, he was the Senior Corporate Actions Analyst at Dresdner RCM Global Investors. Earlier in his career, Mr. Welke held positions as a Mutual Fund Accountant at Wells Fargo and a Portfolio Administrator at Insight Capital Research and Management.
He is a principal of the firm and is responsible for the firm’s trading system, as well as corporate actions.
Mr. Welke graduated from the University of California, San Diego (B.A. in Political Science) and holds a graduate certificate in Financial Planning from Golden Gate University.
