As the Chief Compliance Officer, John Tavernetti supervises all regulatory and legal compliance issues with respect to the firm and its employees. He is a partner at the firm. His work supports robust operational controls and a strong code of ethics, which keep our clients’ interests at the forefront.
John joined Osterweis as Chief Compliance Officer in 2005. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Senior Compliance Officer at RCM Capital Management, LLC, a member of Allianz Global Investors, for a period of five years. From 1996 to 1999 he worked for Montgomery Asset Management, LLC, in San Francisco, first as a mutual fund Marketing Specialist and then as a Compliance Officer.
John is a member of the Bay Area Chief Compliance Officers (BACCO) group, where he meets with local CCOs to discuss securities regulation and exchange practical advice on compliance topics.
He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Political Science. Outside of work, John enjoys history books, podcasts, and mountain biking on Mount Tamalpais in Marin.
